New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on January 28, 2021) follows:
The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T journey to Android 11 has been a rather bumpy one. We’ve seen massive delays, reports of critical decryption issues and more.
We have been closely following this development and you can check out our continued coverage of the journey that has been so far here.
Recently, we saw the company finally rolling out the initial Open Beta build for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T family of devices.
As is the case with any major software update, and a Beta build for that matter, there are bound to be issues. And issues there are in this build.
We have already looked at a few critical issues with the Open Beta build that affect the device’s ability to Warp Charge, the missing Always-on Display feature and call issues for users using Google Fi.
Well, today, OnePlus is living up to its status as one of the most consumer-facing OEMs we have today, by seeking out feedback from users who have updated their devices to these Open Beta builds.
It has been about a week since these builds were released and OnePlus feels like it is about time it started gathering feedback on this release.
The company has just published a survey questionnaire inviting feedback from users of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T devices running Android 11-based HydrogenOS 11.
The survey asks users to rate their HydrogenOS 11 experience on their OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T devices on a five-star scale.
It then proceeds to ask about any serious issues that might have been detrimental to the whole HydrogenOS 11 experience. Affected users are then asked to explain the issue.
This is a really commendable move from OnePlus as it is bound to make the bug-hunting process a lot easier, thereby resulting in a shorter development cycle, or at least we hope.
While this survey is open for users of the Chinese HydrogenOS 11 skin from OnePlus, many of the issues cut across both HydrogenOS 11 and OxygenOS 11.
That said, knowing OnePlus, we could soon see a similar survey targetted at global users who have installed the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 on their OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 devices.
We shall continue to follow this story and the OxygenOS 11 update for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T devices so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb for that.
Update 1 (February 10)
IST 09:10 am: Following the release of Android 11 Open Beta 2 for OnePlus 7/7T series, the company is now asking testers to provide their feedback through a bunch of survey questions.
For now, the survey is live in China (HydrogenOS 11), but the global edition should be out sooner than later. To participate, OnePlus 7 series users can head here while 7T series users can route here.
Update 2 (February 26)
IST 09:10 am: Following the survey carried out by OnePlus to solicit feedback from OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T users on the HydrogenOS 11 Open Beta 2 build, OnePlus is extending the same to users of the same series of devices running OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 2.
To take part in the survey, simply visit these pages for OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, and OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro users respectively.
Update 3 (March 10)
IST 12:10 pm: OnePlus is inviting users of the OnePlus 7T running the HydrogenOS 11 Open Beta 3 to give their feedback on this firmware.
Worth noting is that the Open Beta 3 builds for the OnePlus 7 devices are yet to be released owing to issues with the Always-on-Display feature.
