This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (published on April 20) follows:
OnePlus is once again, making headlines, thanks to its much-teased, OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro launch that happened a few days ago, via live streaming.
And it seems like the Chinese OEM does not want to give all its attention to the new boys on the block as recently, as it pushed the open beta 12 updates for its 2019 flagships, the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro devices.
The updates brought in some cool new features for both the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro like recording icon for call screen, improved stability, bringing duration for phone calls, dirt detection prompt for the camera lens, etc. And to top that, this new open beta 12 also bumped the security patch level to April 2020.
Here is the complete changelog of the update received on the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro as open beta 12:
Changelog
System
• Optimized the volume adjustment to improve user experience
• Added the missing recording icon in call screen
• Updated Android security patch to 2020.04
• Fixed known issues and improved system stabilityPhone
• Added the ringing duration info for missed calls
• Now you can switch your mobile data on phone calls supported with VoLTECamera
• Added a feature which can now detect dirt on the camera lens, prompting a quick cleanup for better image and video quality.
But, soon after the updates were made live for the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro users, it was pulled by the company, because, as per several user reports, the open beta 12 carried a severe bug that does not allow the users to unlock their phone after installing this beta update.
Moreover, taking a closer look at the reports, it seems like those who have set PIN on their phone for the lock screen has been affected, because after installing this update, it won’t let you in, even after entering the correct pin.

Those who have set pin on their phone for the lockscreen, dont update this build, you will get locked out of your devoce and the device will not accept your pin. I am still locked out, figuring alternatives to get back in wihtout having to lose my data.

Ideally, this should not have happened and it is good to see that the company was very quick to acknowledge this issue and take the matters into their hands with the open beta 12 because, this is quite a serious bug as it has left the affected users, locked out of their phones.
Those who have not updated their phones with this open beta 12 update are advised to wait for a bugfix update. You won’t have to look any further as once the links are live, we will add the bug-free links as and when they are live.
