Looks like OnePlus’ latest smartphone – the OnePlus 5T – has a serious issue. A significant number of users on the company’s official forums are reporting that they are observing random reboots/crashes on their units.

While some say they see this behavior occasionally, others stress it’s quite frequent for them.

Steps like clearing cache and other usual troubleshooting doesn’t work. Also, there’s no set pattern for these crashes/reboots, as they reportedly occur while using any app or even when the device is in locked/idle state.

Curiously, a couple of affected users revealed they received messages from OnePlus’ Bug Hunter Team (which consists of OnePlus forum moderators and other OnePlus staff), saying the company is really concerned about this problem. As you can see below, the message further says the OnePlus development team has come up with a fix, and also includes instructions on how to install it.

Sadly, some of those who installed the update containing the fix are reporting they are still observing crashes/reboots, meaning the issue wasn’t resolved for them.

Just in case you want to give the solution a try here is the link to the update.

It appears the Chinese company wants to test their fixes with individual users first before rolling out a final fix for everyone. Anyway, what’s good is they are actively working on resolving the problem, and hopefully, we’ll get the final update soon.

In case you aren’t aware, it also came to light recently that the OnePlus 3/3T OTA roll out has been halted. You can read more about that here.
