One Piece creator, Eiichiro Oda has suddenly fallen ill which hinders him to work on a new chapter this week. In line with this unfortunate event, Weekly Shonen Jump announced on their official Twitter account about the One Piece sudden break this week.
One Piece chapter 973 was supposed to be released on March 1, 2020. However, due to the sad news, the upcoming chapter will be officially released on March 8, 2020. The unfortunate news has saddened many One Piece fans. Not only due to the announced break, but also for the well-being of Eiichiro Oda.
How is Oda’s health?
This is not the first time for One Piece to be on break due to Eiichiro Oda’s health condition. In 2013, the manga was on hiatus for two issues because Oda was hospitalized. He was diagnosed with peritonsillar abscess, a throat infection relatively common to adults.
The official announcement did not mention what Oda’s illness is. Fortunately, the situation does not seem to be very serious. According to a Twitter post by Greg, a One Piece columnist in Shueisha there is nothing to worry about.
I know we are all excited to see the current status of the Straw hats in Wano. However, we owe it to Oda to take a good rest after all his hard work in delivering the wonderful story of One Piece. For now, we can enjoy watching the latest One Piece episodes.
We can also show our support for Oda by patronizing legal manga reading platforms. One Piece on break this week may be a good thing. We can have time to review the events before Oden’s flashback began. It will be the perfect preparation before going back to the present timeline.
