Official OriginOS update timeline for multiple Vivo devices revealed

Vivo is not the first company to switch from one Android custom skin to another. Samsung has done it before and more recently, Realme did it with the switch from ColorOS to Realme UI.

More often than not, these changes tag along plenty of new UI changes, features, and improvements from the previous version, all aimed at drawing a noticeable difference between the two.

This is exactly what Vivo aims to achieve with the new OriginOS, an upgrade from the outgoing Funtouch OS. Announced at a special event not long ago, we now know what to expect when the update goes live.

According to Vivo, the new OriginOS update will tag along features such as a new home screen with a desktop grid system, a new performance wallpaper, atomic notifications to messages, and new navigation gestures.

All of these features, the company notes, will be made available to select Vivo phones before January 2021. As per the company, the following devices will be upgraded to OriginOS update.

Not long ago, Vivo opened registrations into the beta program for interested early adopters, but the software is not expected to begin rolling out at least until November 23.

Since Android 11 is the latest and greatest OS in town, our expectations is that the OriginOS update will also bring the new OS to eligible Vivo smartphones.

But of course, Vivo is no stranger to rolling out new updates to its skin based on older versions of Android, just like it was the case with the Funtouch OS 10 update to the Vivo X23 earlier this year.
