Microsoft Office 365 has been available for Apple devices on the Mac App Store since January 2019.

Now, it seems users of the Office 365 apps are facing a performance-related problem on their macOS running devices.

As per recent reports, Mac users are facing an issue where multiple Office 365 apps take too long to open and are quite slow.

There are multiple reports regarding this issue but neither Microsoft nor Apple has provided any clarity on the matter.

This might be because performance issues like this can occur due to many reasons including third-party plugins or software and many more.

However, a lot of users appear to be experiencing the said performance issue lately which has further led them to look for possible workarounds on their own.

Users have found a couple of workarounds and one of them involves using the Office 365 apps without the internet as doing so significantly reduces launch time.

I have noticed that if the internet is off, then Word files open instantly. I have Office 365 Home version, and I have kept it up-to-date.
And if your internet is in use, the sofware apparently takes first a connection to Microsoft servers in order to check that your license is still valid.

On the other hand, installing and using individual Microsoft Office apps instead of the 365 bundle might also address slow launch time on Mac devices.

Microsoft did acknowledge back in November 2020 that the Office 365 version 16.43 for Mac would open slower when launched for the first time. However, the tech giant has since updated its support page which now indicates that the tech giant does not recognize this as a major issue so far.

So, it is unclear whether Microsoft or Apple will be addressing the said performance issue in the future or not.

Meanwhile, if you are facing the said performance issue on your Mac then try the workarounds given above. Also, let us know if the problem gets resolved by dropping a comment below.
