Update (November 23):
The company is now asking the affected users for bug reports to investigate the problem in question.
Original story below:
Ta-da, apart from offering fix for some long-known issues, the November security update has triggered a new problem on Google’s Pixel 2 smartphones – push notifications are not working for certain apps. New updates, so new troubles.
Users are now complaining of not receiving push notification for apps like Gmail, Whatsapp, and ESPN etc after installing the November update. Several of them took to the official Pixel help community, Reddit, and XDA to highlight the glitch.
Presumably because of escalating number of complaints, Google is now asking those affected to post details here, which usually conveys that the company has actively started investigating the problem.
Here’s what Orrin (a Google employee and the Community Manager at Pixel User Community) said this morning, while addressing the matter in question
We are seeing a few reports from users saying they are not receiving push notifications for certain apps after the November update. If this is happening to you, can you post here with more details. I’ll reach out for more information
The company hasn’t said much yet, but for now it’s a relief that they are aware of the issue. If you are also among the ones affected by a similar problem after the November update, we suggest you to keep a tab here, as we’ll update all related developments related to the glitch.
