New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on June 30, 2021) follows:
We’ve all seen Nokia rise from the ashes of its former glory and today, the company’s brand name is associated with some of the purest Android experiences in the Android scene.
The Android One program is responsible for bringing users the true Android experience with little to nothing in form of bloatware and Nokia is among the few brands that have stuck to this formula.
Along with this lean version of Android, Nokia promises timely updates but, does it really mean it? I mean, the company’s portfolio continues to get bloated with every new device launch, and soon, Nokia will have a robust list of devices akin to the Oppos of this world.
For the most part, it looks like that initial promise is being broken a little too often for everyone’s liking and as we close the second quarter of 2021, lets look at how Nokia has performed.
Android 11 officially debuted back in September 2020 and since then, many OEMs have managed to roll out stable releases of this version of Android to their eligible devices, more on that here.
Nokia has been releasing and revising its Android 11 roadmap while managing to hit some of its marks and completely missing others.
Back in May, we saw the company release a revised version of the said roadmap that put the Android 11 release date for the Nokia 3.4, 5.3, 1.3, 5.4, 1.4, 1 Plus, and 2.4 some time in Q2.
Sadly, users of these devices might have to wait longer as Nokia is yet to oblige and roll out the promised update to the current version of Android.
As at the time of writing, these devices were slated to get updated before the end of June but Nokia has failed to live up to its promise.

Generally, Nokia has been slacking when it comes to rolling out Android 11 to its eligible devices, fate it seems to be sharing with OnePlus.
If this is how Nokia is handling the rollout of Android 11, how is it planning to cope with Android 12? A build that will, no doubt, have a much larger pool of eligible devices. Bear in mind, no Nokia device made it to the Android 11 beta program.
It remains unclear when Nokia plans to roll out these Android 11 updates that were slated for Q2 2021. We shall continue to keep an eye on this and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned.
