Nokia tried to make a comeback in the smartphone industry with some impressive products but couldn’t be as good as expected.
With a handful of devices to offer, Nokia doesn’t hold that big of a smartphone market share.
Irrespective of this fact, it didn’t take Nokia much longer to unveil the Android 11 roadmap for its devices but what’s important is how well you follow the roadmap and that’s precisely where Nokia fairly underperformed.
The flagship Nokia 8.3 5G is the only device in Nokia’s bucket list that has received the Android 11 update so far.
A major lot was scheduled to bag the update by the end of Q1 but well, Q1 2021 stands at its end and we see no signs of Android 11 as yet.
Even after belonging to the Android One family, Nokia smartphones are exactly the opposite of what Android One devices usually are.
Nokia 8.1 awaits its second major update and should be the next device in the pipeline to have received the Android 11 update.
There came some speculations about an imminent release of Android 11 for Nokia 8.1 when the company executives announced Nokia 8.3 5G Android 11 update rollout.
But to everyone’s disappointment, this device still craves an Android 11 update and will continue to do so as an Android 10-based security patch has started rolling out.
The update is an absolute void for those who seek the Android 11 update. This version, however, takes the security level to March and weighs no more than 32 MB.
Nokia, at this point, should have either started the rollout or should have at least come forward to answer questions on its overly delayed plans.
A week away from the end of Q1 with a mere security patch in the pocket only suggests that Nokia is already running late and may not be able to meet its deadline.
Nokia users are left with no other choice but to wait for the Nokia Android 11 flood gates to open up for real this time.
The brand lies way behind its peers when it comes to the Android 11 updates. Any progress related to Nokia 8.1 will be marked as significant and can be found here.
