New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on April 2, 2020) follows:

Reports emerged from Greece at the beginning of March 2020 claiming that the Nokia 2.2 Android 10 update had started doing rounds in some markets ahead of the anticipated wider rollout.

At the time, there was little to show off for this development, something that made us question the said report. But a couple of weeks later, actual user reports started popping up online indeed confirming that the Nokia 2.2 Android 10 update had gone live.

This came after HMD Global Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, had taken to Twitter to announce that the Nokia Android 10 update had been released for the handset.

As part of the package, Nokia 2.2 owners picked up new features such as a system-wide dark mode, new gestures for navigation, additional controls for privacy and location as well as an updated February 2020 security patch.

However, all is not rosy in the Nokia 2.2 camp following the update to Android 10 OS. According to multiple reports, the device has been missing notifications since the update, more so from popular third-party apps like WhatsApp.

Hi! @Google far as I know, only Nokia 2.2 cannot receive notifications and must allow the application to run in the background? I’m sorry, but can you fix the error in the next update? ? I thank you and I love you ?

Thank you @Google for buggy @Android 10. Battery drain increased factor 3 after updating my Nokia 2.2 ? There are lots of complaints about that problem out there – regardless of hardware ☹️ Even file saving and notifications don’t work anymore.

As you can see, many affected Nokia 2.2 owners have taken to Twitter to air their unhappy moments with the device since receiving the new OS. It’s still unclear what exactly triggers the bug, but it appears to be resulting from aggressive battery-saving features.

Missing notifications is the last thing one wants on their phone and it makes sense that Nokia 2.2 owners are furious with Nokia for this buggy software update. On the brighter side, Juho Sarvikas has revealed that the team is working on a fix for this bug and it will be released soon.

How soon the update rolls out remains unknown, but we hope it will be part of the March security patch the device is expected to receive anytime from now.

Update 1 (July 18)

Nokia has now released a new update for the Nokia 2.2. The version is V2.370 and it brings along the July security patch. Further, the missing notifications bug has finally been fixed with the update. User’s (1, 2) have also confirmed the fix.
