HMD Global is now pushing a new update for Nokia 2.1. Unfortunately, it is not what most Nokia 2.1 users were waiting for, i.e. Android 10, rather it is the June 2020 security update based on Android 9 Pie.

Android 9 Pie arrived on Nokia 2.1 back in 2019 as its first major OS update and Android 10 update would be the device’s second and final OS update.

Well, it is interesting to see Nokia promising to deliver two OS updates for a device like Nokia 2.1, which is powered by SD 425 SoC coupled with 1 GB of RAM.

As per the revised Nokia Android 10 update roadmap, Nokia 2.1 should have picked up the Android 10 update in Q2 2020. But that does not seem to be the case as this June 2020 security update is based on Android 9 Pie.

Talking about this June security update, it sizes around 110.9 MB and has been pushed via OTA. Meaning, it will take some time in hitting all the units.

Fortunately for those who do not wish to wait for the OTA to arrive and want to manually upgrade their Nokia 2.1 with the latest security update, can grab the package file from below section:
