Willow is a television series created by Jonathan Kasdan for Disney+ based on the 1988 film of the same name.
The series takes place years after the events of the original film and follows a new generation of characters as they embark on a quest to save their world from a dangerous new threat.
Recently, publications like Forbes, and Variety ran a story where they confirmed that Willow is indeed canceled.
#SaveWillow campaign
So, this led to die-hard fans of the series running a #SaveWillow campaign on Twitter where they requested Disney to renew it at least for another season (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).
According to fans of the Willow series, it honors the uniqueness of the original by building on its lore and also introduced a new set of unlikely heroes.
With an impressive 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, both critics and fans have praised the series for its engaging storyline and compelling characters.
However, news of the show’s cancellation has been met with a massive backlash from fans, who have been vocal in their disappointment and frustration.
Some have taken to social media to express their displeasure and to call for Disney to reconsider their decision and renew the show.
They promoted it so much even after it was over I was so sure they would renew it! #SaveWillow

I’m genuinely confused. Why would @disney approve the end credit scene if they didn’t think they’d renew it? Like that just seems cruel to me. And why would they put out the Willow: Behind the Magic. #SaveWillow #RenewWillow

Official word
Now, there is good news for Willow fans since Jonathan Kasdan (creator) has spoken on the topic and stated that the series production has been halted for 12 months owing to other projects that the show’s cast is working on.
Jonathan Kasdan also said that Volume II has already been written which could turn out to be even better than the first installment.
So, hope is still there that the series could return for its next season, but the date remains anybody’s guess.
With such a passionate and devoted fan base, it’s clear that the Willow series has struck a chord with audiences and will be sorely missed if it gets canceled.
That said we will keep an eye on the latest developments around the future of the Willow series and update this story accordingly.
