Just in case you’re trying to get your head around why you can’t access Nintendo eshop and Nintendo switch, find solace in the fact that you aren’t the only one facing issues lately. A quick look at the micro-blogging site Twitter conveys there are many others affected by the same issue.

Take a look at what some of those affected have to says:

Every time I try to enter the Nintendo eShop it gives me an error. I read that this morning there was an update on the servers. But the eShop still doesn’t work. Can you tell us something?

Here’s the notification that users get to see:

Apparently, Nintendo’s network services are down or unavailable in Japan, the US and the UK. Even the service status page says “Unable to connect to the network service.”

Downdetector also conveys the service is going an outage in some areas.Any official word on the matter? Negative, as yet. We’re yet to locate a word from the official service channels or their social media handles.

Rest assured, we’re keeping a continuous tab on all related developments, and will update this page with relevant info as and when we come across any. So in case you’re encountering the problem discussed here, stay hooked for updates.

Update 1 (June 10, 2022)

09:53 am (IST): Many gamers have taken to Twitter (1, 2) to report that Nintendo servers are currently down or not working for them.

06:14 pm (IST): It appears that the recent outage with Nintendo Switch has been resolved as we haven’t come across any fresh user reports on Twitter.

Update 2 (November 8, 2022)

09:48 am (IST): Fresh reports on Twitter and Downdetector suggest that Nintendo eShop is currently down or not working for many.

However, according to the status page of Nintendo Switch, the servers are currently down for maintenance that will last for a few hours.

07:11 pm (IST): Diminished reports on Downdetector suggest that the recent outage with Nintendo Switch has been resolved. Also, the server maintenance has now been completed.

Update 3 (Feburary 14, 2023)

11:55 am (IST): Fresh reports on Twitter (1,2,3) and Downdetedtor suggests that Nintendo eshop is currently down or experiencing some issues.

According to the status page of Nintendo Switch, the servers will be down for maintenance that will last for a few hours.

08:55 pm (IST): The lack of new reports on Downdetector suggest that the recent outage with Nintendo Switch has been resolved. Furthermore, the server maintenance has been completed.

Update 4 (March 27, 2023)

11:41 am (IST): Nintendo eShop was undergoing general maintenance to shutdown the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U online stores.

From now on, the owners of the aforementioned consoles will not be able to buy new games, but they will be able to download the games already purchased and continue playing online.
