Nintendo Switch & eShop down and not working for many, "unable to connect to the network service" error pops up

Apparently, Nintendo’s network services are down or unavailable in Japan, the US and the UK. Even the service status page says “Unable to connect to the network service.”

Downdetector also conveys the service is going an outage in some areas.Any official word on the matter? Negative, as yet. We’re yet to locate a word from the official service channels or their social media handles.
