AR Mapping working again
New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on September 02, 2021) follows:
One of the best Augmented Reality-based games available right now is Pokemon Go. The game has millions who play it every day.
It is developed by Niantic in partnership with Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. Pokemon Go is regularly updated with developers dishing out new events that keep the gameplay fresh and interesting.
But updating the game frequently has its downsides too, and PiunikaWeb is actively tracking the bugs and issues plaguing the game and the related developments with a dedicated tracker.
A perfect example of how frequent updates ruin a game is the visual glitch that freezes the game when encountering Galar region Pokemon.
Having said that, players are again reporting a new issue with Pokemon Go. According to user reports, the Pokemon Go AR mapping tasks feature is not working for many.
AR mapping tasks are a great way for players to gain free puffins. Some players also report that they are not able to complete any tasks whatsoever.
Same here (Wales, UK). The ‘AR Mapping’ text is back on the same gyms/stops that had it before but I’m not actually getting a scanning task from spinning anything.

I’m having the same issue. I can see the ar mapping tags on stops and gyms but I’m not getting any tasks. Very annoying.

The feature seems to be completely broken right now. Users say they can see the stops but cannot complete the tasks.
When many people reached out to Niantic, the developers acknowledged the issue and said that the Pokemon Go AR mapping feature has been taken offline.
It looks like Niantic is currently investigating the issue but they haven’t come up with an ETA when it will be fixed.
When the Pokemon Go AR mapping not working issue will be fixed, we will update this space so make sure to keep an eye out.
Update 1 (September 6)
