Updates seem to be arriving non-stop for devices which is why we’ve created the new update alert series. Today we’ll be taking a look at a few new devices that are being updated. These devices are the Verizon Moto e5, Samsung Galaxy Wide 3, Galaxy A30, Galaxy A50, Amazon LG G8, Meizu 17 series, Honor 30/30S, and Huawei Nova 3i.

Some of the devices are receiving security updates whereas others are also getting new features or fixes. Nonetheless, let’s take a look at the details of the new update for each device.

Verizon Moto e5

The Verizon Moto e5’s latest update carries the software version ODP27.91-167-9-19. It released on July 7, 2020, and is available as an OTA update. Here’s the changelog for the update:

Includes changes to address some Call Filter app issues, such as Caller ID info not being shown for missed calls and mobile number being displayed twice for international calls.

Samsung Galaxy Wide 3, Galaxy A30, and Galaxy A50

Samsung Galaxy Wide 3

Samsung’s Galaxy Wide 3 is now receiving a new update in Korea. The software version for the update is J737SKSU3BTF1/ J737SSKC3BTF1/ J737SKSU3BTF1 and it’s based on Android 9 Pie. It brings the June 2020 security patch for the device. The size is around 200 MB and is rolling out as an OTA update.

Samsung Galaxy A30

Galaxy A30 units in India are now picking up a new update. This update brings the June security patch and no other notable additions. The build number for the update is BTF6 / BTF4 / BTE1. It’s rolling out now with a download size of around 430 MB.

Samsung Galaxy A50

Another device from the Galaxy A series is receiving an update. That device is the Galaxy A50 which is now getting the July security patch. The software version for the update is A505FNXXU5BTF5 / A505FNOXM5BTF3 / A505FXXU5BTF4. The download size for the update is around 202 MB.

Meizu 17 series

Unlike most other devices on the list, the Meizu 17 series is receiving a massive system update in China. There are a boatload of functions and improvements that come along with the update. This includes auto-brightness, gesture navigation animation effects and battery life optimizations.

Honor 30S, Honor 30

Honor 30S

Honor 30S users in China must be alert since the device is receiving a new update that brings some handy features. The version is 3.1.1.162 and it is available as an OTA package with a download size of around 886 MB. Most notably, the update brings a set of new gestures to take screenshots and record the screen.

Honor 30

The Honor 30 is also receiving an update that brings a multi-device control center option by a swipe up from the bottom left or right. The update version is 3.1.1.162 and it is rolling out in China for the BMH-AN10 and BMH-TN10 models. It also brings the June 2020 security patch.

Huawei Nova 3i

Another Huawei device that’s receiving a new update is the Nova 3i. The version is 9.1.0.308(C185E1R1P1) and has a download size of over 3.6GB. This update is based on EMUI 9.1.0 and is not the Android 10 update. Moreover, it brings the May 2020 security patch.

LG G8 ThinQ Amazon

The LG G8 ThinQ Amazon variant is now receiving the June security update in the US. The software version for the update is Q8200QM21c and the build number is QKQ1.190929.002. This update has also allegedly fixed the navigation gestures issue with third-party launchers.
