[Updated] My Singing Monsters 'login via Facebook' down or not working, issue acknowledged but no ETA for fix

‘My Singing Monsters’ is a popular game that takes the ‘creature breeding’ genre and adds its own distinctive touch, since instead of making them fight, the goal is to form the best musical bands.

The game shares mechanics of the genre, such as having to feed and take care of your monsters, although you will also have to make them happy by listening to their songs and with other types of interactions.

However, currently many ‘My Singing Monsters’ players are unable to access the game as the login via Facebook account is currently down or not working.

Just like in other similar games, you can create an account instantly and log in using your Facebook credentials. These types of systems are very popular among those who want to start playing quickly.

However, this login system can also forward issues. For instance, according to multiple reports, currently several ‘My Singing Monsters’ players cannot access their accounts using their Facebook credentials.

This kind of problem is normally due to an outage on the servers dedicated to the login system between a product (the game) and the platform from which it obtains the credentials (Facebook in this case).

That is, those who created an account using other methods (Google credentials, the traditional email, etc.) can play without problems.

It’s worth pointing out that the outage has lasted for at least 20 hours (at the time of writing this story).

20 hrs and counting. I wish y’all had a quicker customer support team. Shouldn’t take more than 24 hours to hear back from someone through contact us I want my account off Facebook so this doesn’t happen again

Fortunately, the ‘My Singing Monsters’ developers are already aware of the issue and working on a fix. However, there is still no ETA for everything to work normally again.

The Monster-Handlers are aware of an issue where players with a Facebook login are unable to login into the game. This issue is currently being investigated and we will update players as the issue gets resolved. Happy Monstering!

09:50 am (IST): Affected players confirmed that the issue is still present (1, 2). In their last acknowledgement, the development team revealed that they are still working on a fix, but there is no ETA yet.

12:54 pm (IST): Through a short video, My Singing Monsters dev team offered the latest developments on the situation, revealing good and bad news.

Starting with the good news, they confirmed that player progress is safe. They also revealed that players will receive compensation for the issue.

The bad news is that the team is still working with Facebook to try to resolve the login system, but there is no ETA yet.

05:19 pm (IST): Newly surfaced reports (1, 2) now suggest that this issue is affecting other games as well. This means that Facebook will have to fix it on their end.

05:12 pm (IST): Unfortunately, the issue where My Singing Monsters players are unable to login via Facebook is still present after more than two weeks, and there is still no ETA for a fix.

Meanwhile, the dev team offered a workaround that consists of making an ‘account transfer’ to a new email secured one, to be able to use an email to login. The process is the following:

Also, it is important that you do not attempt to login or make purchases in the Guest account while the transfer is pending. The confirmation of the account transfer will arrive in the in-game mailbox.
