It’s 2021 and Motorola has just begun wrapping up the rollout of Android 10 to all eligible devices from its portfolio.
Last month, we reported that the company finally began seeding Android 10 for the Motorola One Macro after months of testing.
That left the Motorola Moto G8 Play as the only device from the Lenovo-owned smartphone maker to get the update to Android 10.
Last year, in July, the Motorola Brazil team on Twitter claimed that the update would go live “soon” for the device. Fast forward to December, the team said Android 10 is in its final testing phase.
Now more than 6 months since the initial “coming soon” claim, Motorola has started rolling out Android 10 for the Motorola Moto G8 Play.
Motorola has confirmed the availability of Android 10 for the Motorola Moto G8 Play on its official software updates page for the region.
It is rolling out with the software version QMD30.47-19 to users in Brazil. The December security patch also tags along with the new OS update.
Like most other Android OS updates, this too will be rolling out in phases, and thus may take a few hours or even a couple of days to be available to all users in the country.
A user has taken to Twitter to confirm receiving the update on their device. We’ve shared the screenshot of the update page below:
Further, now that the update is live in Brazil, we can expect Motorola to seed Android 10 for the Moto G8 Play in other regions shortly.
As usual, we will post an update once the company begins pushing Android 10 for the device elsewhere.
That said, the company can finally shift its focus to rolling out Android 11. At present, only the Motorola G Pro has picked up the latest Android version.
