New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 01, 2021) follows:

The Motorola G Pro and Motorola G Stylus launched last year and share identical hardware, however, the former is part of the Android One program while the latter is not.

Both devices come with Android 10 pre-installed and the Motorola G Pro was the first device from the Lenovo-owned smartphone vendor to bag the update to Android 11.

Motorola G Stylus users who have not received the update to Android 11 yet can install the latest Android version on their devices manually. Head here for more details on that.

Android 11 brings a bunch of new features and improvements to the device, however, there are still a few issues that need to be ironed out such as the NFC issue that is yet to be fixed on the Motorola G Pro.

And on the subject of bugs and issues, it seems that some Motorola G Stylus/Pro users have noticed a glitch or issue in the Camera app which results in images being blurred or appear to have an oil-painting stylized effect when captured at 2x or 3x zoom.

Check out an example of the issue below along with reports from users:

When I click to view the photo from the camera app it will look fine for a brief moment, but as soon as the photo processes it will look blurred. (Source)

My moto g stylus just started doing this same thing with pictures. Did this ever get resolved? (Source)

Hello, same problem here with moto g stylus. Seems related to zoom. Definitely during processing it adds fringes/animation. (Source)

The blur or distortion in the image cannot be noticed in the viewfinder, instead, it is applied once the image gets processed. Further, third-party Camera apps aren’t affected by the issue.

According to most reports, this artifacting happens when clicking images using the 2x or 3x zoom, however, it becomes less noticeable or non-existent when using 4x zoom.

Early last month, a senior mod on the company’s community forums also confirmed that they managed to replicate the issue.

And now, a senior MotoAgent has claimed that the team over at Motorola has duplicated the Camera app issue on the Motorola G Stylus/Pro and has found the root cause.

Therefore, the company will be rolling out an update with improvements to the Camera app to address the blurred or stylized image issue on the Motorola G Stylus/Pro.

The update will be available via the Google Play Store and the MotoAgent has suggested that users keep their apps updated to the latest version.

Unfortunately, the Motorola support member was unable to share any details as to when the update will be made available.

Nevertheless, we will post an update once Motorola rolls out a fix for the problem. In the meantime, you can check out our dedicated tracker to know when the Android 11 update will reach your Motorola smartphone.

Update 1 (March 29)

07:01 pm (IST): The user who started the thread regarding the blurred images after processing on the Motorola G Stylus/Pro has confirmed that a recent update fixed the issue for them.

I just tried it again now, and it’s working fine! No blurred processing at any zoom level. Thanks for getting it fixed, my phone is ready again for vacation photos come September. (Source)
