NOTE: For all latest, breaking news related to Tumblr adult content ban as well as its alternatives, head here.

Ever since Tumblr announced a kind of blanket ban on adult content, we at PiunikaWeb have been maintaining a list of Tumblr alternatives for you. The list has been slowly expanding, and today, we’re adding another name to this list: Mojo Fire.

The service is still being developed and is being crowdfunded. The Indiegogo page for the site contains almost all the details you’d like to know about the service.

To give you a quick summary, MojoFire describes itself as a “micro-blogging platform where you can explore and share your creativity.” As for it’s target audience, here’s what their Indiegogo page says:

Writers, graphic artists, animators, musicians, recording artists, filmmakers – MojoFire is for you

From fandoms, memes, video games, movies, music, pictures, drawings, comics, recipes, books, pirates, current events, or any one of a million other topics, all have a place on MojoFire and are waiting to be discovered

The platform would basically be free to use, although premium services and user promotion programs for content creators will be offered as well. As for how MojoFire will be beneficial for content creators, here’s what their FAQ section says:

We offer content creators a platform to display their creations, works, etc and have an ability to share these things with a large audience who can re-blog and even find buyers indirectly. We welcome you to link to your store page (Etsy, YouTube, Twitch, etc) through our platform

When it comes to age restrictions, MojoFire can only be used by those above 13 years of age, and as for adult content, the team says mature content is allowed as long as it is legal and consensual.

We do not allow child pornography, bestiality, revenge porn, hate speech or illegally obtained imagery

Regarding content filtering, here’s what the company says:

We will incorporate an ability for the user to mark either their blog as a whole or a post as mature content. This way when anyone is logged into the site it is them who chooses what they see in their feed and from other users. Also, mature content will not be viewable to those who are not logged in

Here are a couple of UI mockups MojoFire has shared:

PiunikaWeb is a unique initiative that mainly focuses on investigative journalism. This means we do a lot of hard work to come up with news stories that are either ‘exclusive,’ ‘breaking,’ or ‘curated’ in nature. Perhaps that’s the reason our work has been picked by the likes of Forbes, Foxnews, Gizmodo, TechCrunch, Engadget, The Verge, Macrumors, and more. Do take a tour of our website to get a feel of our work. And if you like what we do, stay connected with us on Twitter (@PiunikaWeb) and other social media channels to receive timely updates on stories we publish.
