[Update: Dec. 21] COD: Modern Warfare 2 weapon camo challenges not tracking & Slimline Pro optic not unlocking issues reported by many

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is every gamer’s dream come true because of its amazing features. The game places its players in an unprecedented global conflict with impressive weapons.

However, players have encountered various bugs and issues ever since its release. For instance, we highlighted how some players were unable to call in ‘SAE killstreak’ airstrike.

And now, many COD: Modern Warfare 2 players (1,2,3,4,5,6) have been experiencing an issue where the game is not tracking or resetting weapon camo challenges.

I don’t know if it got mentioned here already. But the weapon mastery kill challenges are not tracking for me (platinum and polyatomic). Gold is tracking as supposed.

I noticed that some calling card challenges are not tracking, such as the Warzone wins mastery challenges, and “Frag find a way” (kill 25 with frag grenade)

The game has various weapons with four camos that are unlocked by completing their respective challenges. This is basically one of the first steps to progress toward the Platinum camo.

However, even after competing and acquiring all 8 gold camos, the game isn’t tracking their progress thus preventing players from proceeding to the platinum assignment.

Granted that these camos are purely cosmetic, the issue is still incredibly frustrating for many as obtaining these camos is not really an easy task.

Slimline Pro optic not unlocking

To make matters worse, players are also facing issues where the Slimline Pro optic is not unlocking even after leveling up the Lachmann Sub to level 11 (1,2,3,4,5,6).

Why can’t I unlock the slimline pro optic ??? I got my Lacman sub to max ( I already have it gold ) and it still won’t unlock. I had it gold way before season 1 dropped.

@InfinityWard Why does the Slimline Pro optic say locked behind level 11, but with max level it’s still locked? Is this being fixed?

The Slimline Pro optic is an unlockable attachment (when it comes to Red Dot Sight weapon attachments) in the game that provides an unobstructed view of the surroundings.

Even though there were no unlock criteria in the beginning, it seems that many are still unable to access it even after the recent patch.

Current status of these issues

According to COD: Modern Warfare 2 Trello board, the issue where weapon camo challenge is not tracking is currently under investigation.

However, there is still no comment on the Slimline Pro Optic bug from the developers yet.

We also have not come across any workaround that can help resolve the issues temporarily. Hopefully, the team figures out a permanent solution at the earliest.

We’ll keep an eye on these issues and update this story to reflect important developments.

06:31 pm (IST): Infinity Ward has released a new update for Modern Warfare 2 and it brings a fix for the issue where Platinum Camo unlock requirements are displayed incorrectly.

01:31 pm (IST): COD: Modern Warfare 2 players got a new update and have been facing the weapon camo challenges resetting or tracking issue once again (1,2,3,4).

02:16 pm (IST): Some players are now reporting (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) that ‘Polyatomic’ or ‘Platinum’ camo challenges are not tracking for them after unlocking Orion.

Unfortunately, the support team hasn’t yet acknowledged this issue. However, there’s a workaround suggested by a Redditor that might help you resolve this glitch.

Quick fix for me was get a gun gold or platinum and it fixes itself. That’s what it did for me. Everything is back to normal (Source)

06:05 pm (IST): While players continue to report the issue with Mastery Camo progression, Infinity Ward said that they are still investigating it.
