New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on December 29, 2020) follows:
Xiaomi, in a virtual launch event on December 28th, finally unveiled MIUI 12.5 alongside the Mi 11, the company’s latest flagship offering.
MIUI 12.5 bundles a bucket-load of new features and optimization ahead of MIUI 13 launch later next year. All of which are available only in China as beta for now.
MIUI 12.5 is scheduled to cross Chinese borders in April 2021, a detailed timeline of which can be found here.
A new concept called MIUI+ has been introduced for the devices running on MIUI 12.5 and above. With this, Xiaomi aims to bridge the gap between Xiaomi devices and your Windows PC.
Crossing the ecological divide, MIUI+ will allow Xiaomi users to perform activities simultaneously on both devices in real-time. There are a host of cool activities that has been wide opened for the users to use.
– Mobile notifications can also be viewed on the computer.
– Application can be relayed to the computer from your phone.
– Copy text on mobile phone and paste directly on the computer.
– Screenshots appear on the computer as soon as you capture them.
– Browse mobile files on your computer in a more efficient way.
– Edit phone files with a computer and automatically save them back to the phone.
– Efficiently open mobile phone webpages with the computer browser.
– Big screen notes, equally good.
Integration of MIUI+ will allow users to break the technological wall between the two devices. This certainly is not a new innovation but definitely something new for Xiaomi fans.
MIUI+ perpetuates seamless collaboration between your mobile and PC. But this being in beta, might not be readily available for public use until the stable version starts rolling out.
It is worth noting that this feature is only limited to a particular set of devices including Xiaomi Mi 11, Mi 10 series, Mi 9 series, Redmi K30 Pro, and Redmi K20 Pro with, of course, MIUI 12.5 as the system version.
Although Xiaomi has listed down a few of their own laptops as the best compatible devices, it shouldn’t be a task to run MIUI+ on any other laptop, provided it has the minimum hardware requirements.
– Mi Notebook Pro 15 Enhanced Edition
– Mi Notebook Pro 15.6″ 2020
– Redmi G gaming notebook
– RedmiBook 16
– RedmiBook 14 II
– RedmiBook Air 13
