Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 is packed with features including Super Wallpapers, animated icons, and Floating windows.

However, keeping the system functionality intact with so many features can be a little too tricky at times.

Now, a new issue has surfaced where the MIUI 12 floating window feature appears to be missing for apps like YouTube after a recent update.

Multiple users have been reporting about this on multiple online platforms which also suggests that the problem is present on various MIUI 12 running devices.

While it is unclear which all apps are affected because of this issue, a large number of user reports clearly indicate that the feature is indeed not working for YouTube.

Also, the OEM is yet to make any comments on the matter which further begs the question that whether the said feature is removed on purpose or is it a bug that is causing the issue.

Moreover, a Mi 10 5G user on the Mi Community has pointed out that the floating window feature can only be used for YouTube by enabling it from the Control Center.

In response to this report, a Mi Community feedback team member has stated that they will discuss this with their team and will get back.

Hi there. thanks for reaching out to us. I ll discuss this issue with my team and get back to you soon. thanks

Apart from this, another Mi Community user has provided a workaround of sorts which enables the floating window feature for YouTube on the latest MIUI 12 build.

The workaround involves making a note in the MIUI Notes app and adding the “www.youtube.com” hyperlink in it. After doing so, launch the notes app in floating window mode.

Now, long press the added YouTube link and tap on the Link icon in the toolbox. This would launch YouTube in the floating window mode but it is still a temporary solution.

This is simply due to the fact that users are not able to directly use the YouTube app in floating window mode and also it is not known which all apps are affected apart from YouTube.

That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
