Original story (published on May 6) follows:
The much-awaited MIUI 12 global update is a step close to hitting a device near you. Xiaomi has been testing MIUI 12 beta in China for over a week now and things are now in full swing in regards to the global availability of the software.
Xiaomi did confirm that the stable update to MIUI 12 will be ready in China in late June. It seems the company is now looking to beat this date. A senior company executive had hinted at a July 2020 release date for the global market, although this may likely affect the Redmi Note 8.
From today going forward, the company will be recruiting users of select Mi and Redmi devices into the Mi Pilot Testers program for the MIUI 12 Global Stable Beta ROM. Folks in India have until May 15 while the rest of the globe has until May 18 to apply.
In India, the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro are the only devices allowed into the program. If interested to try MIUI 12 ahead of the rest and you own any of these two handsets, fill the application form here.
For those on the global ROM where the devices above are known as Xiaomi Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro, you are also welcome to try MIUI 12 ahead of your friends. If you own the Mi 9, you won’t be left behind. The form to apply is here.
Successful applicants will be added to a Telegram group of Global Stable Beta ROM testers.
Essentially, the Stable Beta ROM is the final stage before the stable version rolls out widely. Matter of fact, MIUI’s Stable Beta and Stable ROMs are usually the same. Granted, we might be looking at an earlier than expected release for the MIUI 12 global stable update.
Applicants from India should find more details here while those outside India have their application details here.
