MIUI 12 brightness slider doesn't work on some Mi, Redmi & Poco devices when Control Centre is pulled all the way down

Let’s all just unanimously agree that MIUI 12 has turned out to be quite a buggy and laggy mess of a software update.

There has been a slew of complaints regarding a string of issues ever since its advent back in April last year and they have refused to die down ever since.

While many of these bugs have been smoothed out over the months, Android 11 entered the picture and seemingly spoiled everything once again. The situation has gotten so bad recently that even a community moderator recommended downgrading to Android 10.

This is quite understandable considering the fact that a user can encounter lags and glitches even while performing the most basic of tasks, especially on many of the budget devices.

Take the Control Center for example. This implementation of the quick settings may be revolutionary in terms of design in the Android world but is riddled with issues.

Some of these include lags in its animation which has prompted many users to stick to the old notifications panel and has even led to Xiaomi disabling Gaussian blurring to improve performance.

And now, there has been a bunch of complaints from users about the brightness slider in the Control Center.

As clear from the above video, many users are unable to adjust the brightness levels because the brightness slider fails to respond when the Control Center is pulled all the way down on MIUI 12.

It still works when the Control Center is in its compact view, but hey, is a cause of bother nonetheless. Also, as per the complainant, the issue is reproducible for them on MIUI 12.0.4.0. But other versions could be affected too.

Nonetheless, it is worth mentioning here that MIUI is in some really rapid development as we speak and hence issues like these are to be expected. But feature additions have recently died down as Xiaomi is now focusing more on polishing up existing stuff prior to stable MIUI 12.5 release.

Thus, if this brightness slider issue isn’t fixed with the next MIUI 12 update, then it should hopefully disappear with MIUI 12.5. Of course, your device will have to be eligible for it first though.
