Xiaomi will be suspending the MIUI 12 beta program from December 14, 2020 as the OEM will be preparing the upcoming MIUI 12.5 update.
MIUI 12.5 will act as a bridge to the MIUI 13 update and the OEM has recently shared some of the prominent changes that it offers over MIUI 12.
The information comes from the Mi Community where new features including Approximate Location, new volume controls, animations, power menu, image to PDF option, and Recents layout.
Apart from that, the MIUI Camera and Cleaner apps get a redesigned UI along with lock screen notifications style and notification center.
Other changes include bubble notifications support (Android 11), super resolution, new fingerprint unlock animation, voice control, icon styles, QR code scanner UI, and more.
While these changes are specific to MIUI 12.5, the MIUI 12 beta program has been giving us glimpses of most of the aforementioned changes.
It must also be noted that the OEM is planning to optimize the animations to run more smoothly on MIUI 13 which means that the next iteration of MIUI might incorporate some the changes from MIUI 12.5.
However, this is still based on our speculation as the OEM has not shed much light on the MIUI 13 update.
This update includes major innovations and improvements and prepares Xiaomi devices for MIUI 13.
It is still good to see that Xiaomi is constantly optimizing and furnishing its in-house custom skin to deliver the best possible user experience.
Also, the OEM has made it clear that MIUI 12.5 will prepare Xiaomi devices for MIUI 13. This might also mean that all devices that will get the intermediate update will also be upgraded to MIUI 13.
While Xiaomi has not mentioned which devices are eligible for MIUI 12.5, we hope all eligible devices also get the MIUI 13 update as well.
That said, we will keep tracking the development of MIUI 12.5 and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to get the latest updates on the topic.
