Android 11-based MIUI 12 began rolling out for some devices late last year and things seemingly took for a worse ever since. Users have been complaining about performance issues and various bugs following the update.
A couple of the mention-worthy ones include bad notifications layout with apps like WhatsApp and Facebook and gestures issues when using third-party launchers.
It was almost like Xiaomi rolled out a half-baked Android 11 experience just for the heck of it and had planned to iron out the existing kinks with MIUI 12.5 all along.
After all, almost every device that bagged Android 11, if not all, is also eligible for MIUI 12.5.
Therefore, users have been counting on the MIUI 12.5 update to address at least some of the most commonly faced bugs. And now, as per some user feedback on Reddit, it does indeed seem like MIUI 12.5 is headed in the right direction.
We previously highlighted how the Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 11, and the Mi 9 SE became the first devices to bag MIUI 12.5 stable in China. Of course, download links for the same became available as well.
Therefore, some of the devices’ savvy global users have already tried the stable Chinese update and have given out their initial impressions on the kind of performance and bug fixes one can expect.
Apparently, the MIUI 12.5 update for the Mi 10 Ultra addresses most of the existing bugs on Android 11-based MIUI 12. This is in combination with a notable increase in fluidity.
Similar improvements can obviously be expected for other MIUI 12.5-eligible devices as well.
Guess the performance enhancements and power consumption optimizations promised with MIUI 12.5 have finally begun to leave their mark. Truly a sigh of relief for users that were beginning to feel hopeless about MIUI’s state.
Additionally, some users have reported that the bad notifications layout issue has been apparently fixed with MIUI 12.5.
It still remains to be seen if the MIUI 12.5 update also finally fixes the broken gestures issue with third-party launchers. If we happen to come across any information regarding it, we will update this article of course.
