[April Fool’s alert] MIUI 12.5 update releases for Mi 8 Pro, Mi 9 Pro Dual, Mi 11 Ultra Pro, Poco F1 Pro Max, & F2 Pro Zoom Ultra Edition

Xiaomi had promised stable releases of the MIUI 12.5 update in Q2 2021 for a bunch of their devices. And now that the much-awaited time frame is finally here, Xiaomi has commenced their rollouts, true to their word.

Some devices even received stable betas a bit sooner than expected in late March itself. These included the yesteryear flagship Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, shortly followed by the latest champ – the Mi 11.

For the uninitiated, the update quietly brings forward several minor UI tweaks designed to make the MIUI experience better than ever before. This is combined with optimizations to improve performance and reduce power consumption.

You also get several app updates along with it too. For example, the Notes app has received a huge re-design aiming at increased utility. There are also some new Super Wallpapers for that immersive homescreen look.

Nonetheless, as aforementioned, now that the first couple of devices have bagged MIUI 12.5 stable, other devices are of course expected to follow suit.

But what wasn’t expected is that Xiaomi is set to update devices like the “POCO F1 Pro Max” – devices that do not even exist.

This imaginary device is just one of the many devices in the purported April 1 Xiaomi MIUI 12.5 update list doing rounds lately. And as you can see in the list given below, most of the devices do not even exist:

3. Mi 11 Ultra Pro
4. POCO F1 Pro Max

Additionally, a fake screenshot showing that the Mi 9 Pro has already bagged stable MIUI 12.5 global is also given below. It carries a version of “MIUI 12.5.3”.

Yet again, as you can see, the screenshot is just a prank – a pretty elaborate one too. This is pretty clear from the “12.5.3” version number wherein the “5” looks out of place.

We advise our readers to not fall for these and tread with caution. After all, it’s April, and who knows what is to come next!
