MIUI 12.5 checks & informs users of potential system environment risks to ensure a safer online payment experience

MIUI 12.5 is perhaps the most privacy-centric iteration of Xiaomi’s custom skin to date. The OS comes with a range of features designed to make regular phone usage more secure than ever before.

For starters, the system throws notifications whenever an app accesses clipboard data and even allows restricting certain apps from accessing the clipboard. This has obviously been inspired by iOS but is still great to have nonetheless.

The update also gives users the option to share a fuzzy (approximate) location instead of an exact one to ensure that privacy is protected. Moreover, a sandbox of sorts has also been implemented so that private photos and information stay protected from prying eyes.

Lastly, we previously highlighted how MIUI 12.5 also offers a secure keyboard that scrambles digits for enhanced security against malicious applications. So yeah, MIUI definitely doesn’t leave much scope for worry when it comes to privacy.

And as if all of the above is not sufficient, Xiaomi’s official MIUI handle on Weibo recently highlighted a brand new security-based feature, which to be honest, is pretty cool.

As clear from above, MIUI 12.5 will scan the payment environment during an online transaction session to ensure safety against any security risks. This even includes scanning of the network conducting the transaction.

Truly a great addition in the era of online payments.

There is also an option to enable the MIUI 12.5 payment security check feature as per your liking for select apps that support payments. This can be done through a “Payment application management” section.

Now while too many details were not given out by Xiaomi, it is likely that this feature will be limited to China alone even after a MIUI 12.5 global stable rollout.

This can be ascertained from the fact that Xiaomi’s secure keyboard feature has also been restricted to select regions even years after its introduction.
