Xiaomi has stepped up their software development game significantly following the announcement of MIUI 12 back in August.
The Chinese company has since scurried to add new features to its skin whilst keeping its entire smartphone lineup up to date with promised Android version updates and security patches.
And while Xiaomi does occasionally bump into hurdles when it comes to rolling out security patches for some of its devices like it recently did with the Mi 8 Lite, it is quite forgivable considering the number of features they add on a regular basis.
In other words, they have almost managed to strike the perfect chord between new feature additions and new Android versions. And it shows.
Previously, they added a bunch of features with their MIUI 12.5 beta update versions 21.1.18 and 21.1.15 like support for 90 FPS in Screen Recorder and ‘magic clone freeze frame’ camera mode among other things.
And if all that wasn’t enough, they are now pushing China weeklies with build numbers 21.1.19 and 21.1.20 with further fresh additions.
For starters, there has been a bunch of new additions to the MIUI App Vault:
Firstly, there’s now a new “Intelligent Assistant” added to the App Vault (-1 screen). While it’s too early to comment on its functionality, it sure does sound neat.
Next up, App Vault will now display a set of details related to E-sports events/tournaments along with “football league game status” for sports fans.
And lastly, you get a “sliding switch function” for a more convenient display of step counting and sleep stats.
App Vault isn’t the only module receiving updates though, as there is also a change pertaining to the Mi Browser app – a long-press sliding operation on the bottom bar has been added.
Moreover, there are also some behind the scenes changes like settings page layout optimization and smoother multi-window animations.
The MIUI 12.5 beta update in question has already been rolled out for a select few devices.
Keep in mind though that all this can only be availed if you are a part of the Chinese closed beta testing or if you are on a ROM like Xiaomi.eu which too is based on Chinese betas.
With that being said, if you just can’t wait to lay your hands on the MIUI 12.5 update along with all the goodies that it offers, then be sure to check out our MIUI 12.5 update tracker.
