MIUI 12.5 beta releases & internal stable testing to be suspended temporarily for all Mi, Redmi, & Poco devices

MIUI 12.5 has been touted as being an intermediary between last year’s MIUI 12 and the upcoming MIUI 13 update.

While not much is known about the latter, it can be said that there’s still plenty of time left before it makes it to any device at all considering that even MIUI 12.5 is yet to be released for a majority of devices.

Still, Xiaomi has been pretty busy with making the update available for its devices as per their timeline. The OEM has even released updates ahead of schedule in some cases. So yeah, the progress has been solid till now.

For the uninitiated, Xiaomi has been releasing beta builds for most of its MIUI 12.5-eligible devices since January. The builds have always brought along something new and are released as frequently as thrice per week.

While these beta builds are still being rolled out currently, some new info emerged recently showing that MIUI 12.5 has now hit the internal stable testing phase. This proves that it is in its final testing stages, at least in China.

Sadly, there is still no word for when MIUI 12.5 will make it to global Xiaomi and Poco variants. This comes even after the first batch of eligible devices has already been treated to the update.

Further, it now appears that things may get delayed some more for global users. Xiaomi has notified that they’ll be suspending MIUI 12.5 development version public releases as well as pausing internal stable testing.

This has been mentioned in the release notes of MIUI 12.5 beta 21.2.27 that went live earlier today:

As clear from above, Chinese beta builds will continue to be released as they usually are until around May 2. But following this, they will be paused from May 3 to May 7. A reason for this was not given out.

The release notes also mentioned that the MIUI 12.5 beta 21.4.27 hasn’t been released for the Mi 9 and Redmi K20 Pro due to some unnamed issues.

The update will only roll out officially to the ones that are part of the Chinese beta program. Still, if you have an unlocked bootloader, you can install it manually via recovery. The download links will be made available here.
