After the botched Mi Box S Android TV Pie update that Xiaomi rolled out early this year, the company released a rollback firmware to Oreo for unhappy owners of the set-top box.

The wait for the many bugs to be addressed took months, with the company finally opting to go back to the drawing board in early April with a new Pie beta update.

In quick succession, Xiaomi pushed two more Pie-based beta updates to the Mi Box S, the last of them arriving as build r2603 and weighing in at 654MB. As per the screengrab below, the update, which arrived late last week, fixed the CEC not working bug.

Even before the dust settles, Xiaomi is now rolling out the stable Mi Box S Android Pie update to multiple users. The update is available for everyone, including those coming from Oreo, folks trying the Pie beta version and those who got the buggy Pie update weeks ago.

As expected, the package is airborne, weighing in at the same 654MB as beta 3, but with a newer build number r2604. Below is a summary of the changes included in this build.

– Upgrade your Android system to 9.0
– Fixes Chromecast not working issue
– Fixes issue with playback freezing in some apps
– Fixes special H264 decode error
– Fixes issue with Bluetooth audio not syncing with video
– Fixes HDMI compatibility issue
– Fixes pop sound when STB is in standby mode
– Fixes issue with Gboard not working when connecting an external keyboard.

As already noted, the update is arriving over the air and since OTA updates are released in batches, not every single Mi Box S unit out there will receive this firmware by today. More people should begin seeing it in the course of the week unless some more bugs show up once again.
