This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..

Original story (from April 11) follows:

Android One powered devices sport clean and bloatware-free UI and guarantees two years of major OS updates along with regular security updates for up to three years.

Chinese smartphone giant, Xiaomi was not one of those who would miss out on this program and launched the Mi A1 device. Running on Android 7 Nougat out of the box, the device has already picked up two major OS updates, meaning it is done for good as far as firmware updates are concerned.

Put the hopes in the back burner, just recently, the Mi A1 has grabbed Feb 2020 security update which is based on Android 9 Pie. This update made it clear the Android 10 is not on the cards for the Mi A1.

Although the hopefuls have filed petitions for getting their thrid major OS update in the form of Android 10, it is highly unlikely that Xiaomi will push the firmware for the Mi A1.

And since, the Mi A1 is almost confirmed not to get the Android 10 update, it is not going to be served with the Android 11 (MIUI 12) update.

But not everything is going south for the Mi A1 users, as Xiaomi has pushed the Android 9 Pie based April update for the units. Notably, this OTA brings the March 2020 security patchset.

Moreover, taking a look at the changelog, the VoWiFi (WiFi Calling) feature is nowhere to be seen and the OEM, Xiaomi is to be blamed for this.

Keep in mind, as always, the update is being pushed via OTA in stagged manner and will take sometime in hitting all the units. But if you wish to upgrade your device manually to the latest patch, then you can head over to the below section:
