MapleStory reportedly not working or keeps crashing for a section of players

Developed by Wizet and published by Nexon, MapleStory is a 2D side-scrolling multiplayer role-playing video game initially released in 2003.

Like every other multiplayer game, players can come together as a team to defeat monsters in ‘Maple World’ while interacting with each other via chatting or trading.

While the initially launched game featured 2D graphics, its sequel – MapleStory 2, launched in 2015 – features updated 3D graphics. The game reportedly had over 180 million registered players as of 2020.

However, some MapleStory players are now reporting that the game is not working or keeps crashing for them.

According to some of those affected, the game crashes when they try to use the new battleground feature or access the misty island, while others say its crashing during weekly bosses and daily arcane.

Here are some reports for reference:

Was about to do my bosses, prepped all my buffs and whatnot. Teleported to lotus and boom! Crashed and everything’s gone. I’ve literally been dcing 5 times in a row in the last 5 minutes. (Source)

Moreover, some pointed out that crashes happen even during cutscenes, which is making the game completely unplayable.

A Redditor also noted that if you crash and re-login too much, it triggers AB (angelic buster) for 15 days. So, you would want to avoid this from happening.

well need to be pretty fast for example like 5 times in 2 mins. NGS triggers AB becuase it thinks you are using auto log in feature in some hacking tools and block it for 3rd party programs (Source)

Regrettably, we haven’t come across any workaround that might help you fix this issue temporarily.

Unfortunately, the support team hasn’t yet acknowledged the issue and we hope that they fix it soon since players are unable to play the game.
