NOTE: For all latest, breaking news related to Tumblr adult content ban as well as its alternatives, head here.

If you are still looking for an alternative to Tumblr after the company banned almost all kind of adult content in December last year, you should check out or exhaustive list of Tumblr alternatives. The list includes existing sites like Tumblr as well as new platforms that have sprung up post the Tumblr NSFW content ban.

Today, we are expanding the list by throwing light on MakeLoveNotPorn. The platform, which has been around for almost 10 years now, has been benefited by Tumblr exodus. Founder Cindy Gallop recently revealed this in an interview with FastCompany.

Before we highlight important tidbits from the interview, it’s important to know what MakeLoveNotPorn actually is. Contrary to what the name of the platform indicates, MLNP says they are pro-porn, but the main focus is to let people know the difference between what they see in port and what happens in real.

In Gallop’s TED Talk from 2009, she focused on how the male dominated porn industry has shaped up new generation’s thoughts about sexual intercourse. The talk is slightly adult, but should give you a better idea on what MLNP wants to achieve:

Talking to FastCompany, Gallop said:

Social sex videos on MakeLoveNotPorn are not about performing for the camera. They are about doing what you do on every other social platform, capturing what goes on in the real world, as it happens spontaneously in all its funny, messy, glorious, silly, awkward, comical humanness

She also described the platform’s struggle, which currently has 100,000 active monthly users, and nearly 400 content creators (if you talk about last year’s data). As per Gallop, the difficulty in finding investors is the main reason behind the slow growth of the platform.

But the good news is the platform recently received $2 million in funding, which has helped the company to launch a Facebook timeline-style feature on MakeLoveNotPorn. All this happened around the same time Tumblr announced ban on explicit content.

When Tumblr announced the [NSFW] ban, that’s when I said to my team, let’s move forward

If you are looking for a single main reason to hop onto the MLNP bandwagon, Gallop says that would be “human curation” – every video is watched by moderators to make sure it is real and shows “open natural, healthy, sexual public expression.”
