Apple’s current major iOS 16 software update quickly became the talk of the tech world when it arrived a few weeks ago. It introduced several changes like the redesigned Lock Screen and a bunch of exciting new wallpapers.

It also increased the font size of the clock display on the iPhone lock screen. Apparently, it isn’t really a bug, but intended behavior.

iOS 16.1.1 Lock Screen clock large font size

But some iPhone users (1,2,3,4,5) are upset to find that the large font size of the Lock Screen clock appears even after the 16.1.1 update.

Is there a way to change the CLOCK font on the welcome screen – it is now BOLD & large just after updating the IOS to 16.1.1?

The issue initially popped up in iOS 16 but it seemingly continues to persist even after the recent update. Some feel that it is too bold and take up half of the screen’s space.

Even with the help of the ‘Customize’ feature, users can only add a new wallpaper and change the font style, but it says nothing about the font size.

Since this change was intentionally brought to iOS 16 devices, it’s highly unlikely that Apple will roll back this feature in a future update.

There’s no workaround that can help fix the issue temporarily. So, users can instead try changing the font style of the clock using the following steps:

While this will only change the clock’s font style, you can try choosing the one that is more in line with a font that makes the size look somehow smaller.

We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article to reflect the same so stay tuned.
