This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (published on June 3) follows:
Finally, the Android 10 update for the LG G8X ThinQ is now rolling out for the masses. Notably, the update also brings along the latest custom UI from LG, the LG UX 9.0.
This dual-screen device came out in 2019 and gave the users a different style of using dual-screen, where in place of delicate design which the Samsung, Huawei, or Motorola were opting for, the LG G8X ThinQ made use of a case with a secondary screen.
Once you put the LG G8X ThinQ device in the case, the secondary display lights up and you can use both the screen as one. It came with Android 9 Pie out of the box and according to the official roadmap, it was expected to pick up the Android 10 update somewhere in Q2 of 2020.
To recall, the Sprint variant and the Canadian variants of the LG G8X ThinQ have already received the update and it was about time for the standard variants of the device to grab the latest OS update.
The update is seeding with the version number V20a and is currently live for the users of LG G8X ThinQ in Brazil. We expect the update to go live for other regions soon.
Presently, without the availability of an official changelog, it is unclear as to what this Android 10 update brings in for the LG G8X ThinQ units.
However, by default, along with the all the Android 10 core features, this update will be bringing all the features of the LG UX 9.0 like revamped dialer app, updated notification center, system-wide dark mode, new gallery app, new icons, enhanced security, and more.
It goes without saying that the update is being pushed via OTA and will take some time in arriving on all the LG G8X units, as OTAs are pushed in a staggered manner.
If you have not yet received an update notification then, you can head over to Settings>>System>>System Update and check for the update manually.
