LG Android 11 update vulnerability lets attackers bypass lockscreen protection after terminating call

LG’s exit from the smartphone market has finally been confirmed. And while the company won’t sell new hardware, it will continue to seed Android 11/12 to certain models.

At present, it has only rolled out the update to a few devices from its portolio which are the LG V60 ThinQ, LG Velvet 5G, and the LG X5 Android One.

Other models are expected to get the update later on in the year according to the company’s official schedule that it shared on it’s German wesbite.

Android 11 brings a bunch of new features and improvements over Android 10 including a revamped UI and other useful additions such as notification bubbles.

That said, it seems a major vulnerability has been discovered with Android 11 on LG smartphones that lets attackers bypass the lockscreen protection after terminating a call.

Bypassing the lockscreen security would give attackers free rein on vulnerable devices and is a major issue. Hence, we expect LG to patch the issue soon.
