Twitch is quite a popular live-streaming platform used by millions of people across the world on a daily basis. The company frequently makes aesthetic changes to its platform with the aim of improving the user experience.
It recently released an app update, which brought bug fixes, stability fixes, and app optimizations. However, it looks like these changes have not been well received by some Apple TV users.
Latest Twitch app update on Apple TV allegedly awful
Several Twitch users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) have complained that the new app update for Apple TV is terrible, citing a number of reasons.
Even though the company managed to clean up the UI of the app, some feel that Twitch chose style over functionality. It is alleged that Twitch removed a lot of useful features to make the user experience more streamlined.
For instance, after the latest update, users are unable to read chat replays while watching older videos on demand. Also, one now needs to scan a QR code first in order to interact in the live chat sessions.
The patch also removed the ability to view offline channels followed by a user. Also, one can no longer sort content on the ‘Browse tab’ by ‘Most viewed’. Some UI bugs and glitches also make the experience feel clunky.
A Redditor complains that they are experiencing stuttering issues after the recent update.
Even though they have tried tinkering with video streaming quality and wireless audio sync settings on their Apple TV, they couldn’t get rid of the issue.
A Twitter user alleges that after the update, Twitch’s app excludes smaller broadcasts, and its web interface no longer displays raids.

Apparently, Twitch is introducing similar changes to its dedicated app clients for PS5, Xbox, and other TV apps. Some have even questioned the point of releasing such an update and are now demanding a revert.
We do hope that Twitch answers to the calls of users and makes the necessary changes to its app. Until then, we will keep tabs on this issue and update this story as new information becomes available.
