There is a new Honor Band 4 software update rolling out that introduces new features, fixes several bugs, and optimizes the general system-wide performance of the smart wearable.

The Honor Band 4 was unveiled one year ago alongside the Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max. The fitness band was an upgrade over its predecessor, rocking a colored AMOLED panel and a Home button.

Going by the timing of its release, the Honor Band 4 was meant to dethrone the Mi Band 3 as one of the best and most affordable fitness band thanks to its price tag of just $30.

As of this writing, though, the Honor Band 5 has since come in to succeed the Band 4. Like its predecessor, the former was unveiled alongside the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro, the successors to the Honor 8X and 8X Max from a year ago.

Even with the arrival of the Band 5, the Huawei subsidiary is still taking great care of its the year-old fitness smart band with regular software updates, the latest arriving as version 1.0.1.0.58.

The new update is rolling out over the air to the fitness tracker and weighs a significant 3.38MB, which you can expect some cool stuff as part of this update.

The most exciting change the new update brings is the introduction of new watch faces, three to be precise, and apparently, someone has already found a favorite among them – and I agree with them!

Below is the full changelog as provided by Honor:

  • Introduces three new designs (watch faces)
  • Optimizes the records and displayed results of workouts
  • Fixes a rare issue where a swimming workout couldn’t be ended if you paused them in the middle

As usual with software updates, the incoming version also fixes an annoying bug with recording details about swimming workouts and optimizes the general performance of the tracker.

The new Honor Band 4 software update is rolling out over the air, which means that some units will receive the download notification ahead of others. Granted, you may have to wait for a few days before yours arrives, so don’t freak out if it hasn’t already.

Alternatively, you can check for the update manually, but after connecting the wearable to the Huawei Health app. After that, go to Me > My devices and from the device details screen, tap on the Firmware update option and follow the on-screen prompts to get the new update. Easy huh!
