Google’s video chat app, Google Duo, is available for both Android as well as iOS devices. Millions of people use Google Duo across the globe on the said devices making it a popular video communication service.
Now, Google Duo is getting a UI redesign with the latest app update which will reach users over the next few weeks.
This info comes from a Google Support community post by a Google Community Manager who has shed some light on the said Google Duo update.
As per the post, Google Duo will get a simplified Home Screen which will not have the Send Messages, Create Groups, See Contacts and Existing Groups, and Invite Contacts options.
Instead, the new Home Screen will feature a New Call button which will allow users to start a Duo call, create a group, see contacts lists and groups, and call a Home device.
While the post outlines how simplified the upcoming Google Duo update will be with the removal of many features from Home Screen, the said features have not actually been removed from the app.
Thus in order to create and send video or audio messages, a picture or note, users will have to select a group or contact then tap on the Message button. Also, messages can be sent to multiple contacts either by selecting an existing group or by creating a group.
As mentioned before, users can create groups via the New Call button then tapping on the Create group option. While the New Call entry point will also allow users to See Existing Groups and Contacts, they can be accessed via Search as well.
Apart from that, users can select the blue Invite button next to contacts not on Google Duo to invite them to the platform.
Despite removing some features from the home screen, all in all, the upcoming Google Duo update is certainly meant to simplify things for users.
So, be sure to keep an eye on the Play Store or App Store for the new Duo update and do let us know if you have already received the same by dropping a comment below.
That said, we will report back with more details as and when we get new information to share so stay tuned.
