Twitter Blue has divided opinions from the get-go. The opt-in paid subscription that adds a blue checkmark to a user’s account has sparked debate about its pricing scheme.
But after much deliberation, Twitter Blue is available for $11/month on iOS and $8/month on the web. The existing subscribers have been notified of the price change.
The main drawback of Twitter Blue is that it is not an ad-free service.
Is Twitter Blue worth the price?
Several users are currently questing the price of Twitter Blue because even after paying 8/11$, they don’t get an ad-free experience and feel that it’s not worth it (1,2,3,4,5).
Twitter Blue has increased its subscription price but has added new features like 50% fewer ads as compared to non-verified accounts, your Tweets will be prioritized, and much more.
However, this hasn’t soothed the rumblings among users who believe the price hike is excessive.
Although a 50% reduction in ads is noteworthy, it is still not the entire ad-free experience that people seek.
I gave #twitterblue a go. It was nice having organized bookmarks and a thread reader built in. Those features are not worth $11 or even $8 per month so I’ve cancelled the service. Nothing else in the product roadmap makes me change my mind.

You could make a case Twitter Blue was narrowly worth it before Elon took over. There’s just no point in it now.

Users from Australia are particularly unimpressed for being charged AUD 19 on iOS and AUD 13 on web/desktop (1,2,3,4,5).
Thought I’d check out #twitterblue since the idea of having a #bluetick did tickle my fancy … but $19 a month in Australia. Wow ok so that’s the end of that then

Based on this logic, subscribers in Australia will pay around AUD 228 per year. For comparison, a basic Netflix subscription plan costs AUD 10.99, Disney Plus is AUD 11.90, and Stan is AUD 16.
It could be that in the coming year, the company increases the price again as Elon Musk confirmed a completely ad-free tier:
Basic Blue will have half the number of ads. We will offer a higher tier with no ads next year.

That might be part of Twitter 2.0, which has long been discussed in terms of providing enhanced and improved services.
Back in November, Elon Musk said that the price of Twitter Blue will be adjusted by the country’s purchasing power parity:
So Twitter users around the world should be prepared to see a slight difference in the Blue subscription prices based on their location.
Getting Twitter Blue isn’t easy as well
In order to get Twitter Blue, there are certain other conditions that users need to fulfill:
1. The key one is that the user’s account must be older than 90 days and must have a verified phone number to get through the process after review.
2. People can change their account handle, display name, or profile picture but will lose the blue check in that case until the account is reviewed again.
But there’s no word on how the procedure would work in that situation, or if individuals will receive the checkmark back for free or have to pay again.
3. Android users haven’t received this feature yet as it is limited to iOS and web users. Also, it’s limited to certain countries which makes it difficult to acquire.
