Apple iPhones are one of the best and most popular smartphones in the world. Its easy-to-use operating system, flawless designs, and immaculate cameras definitely bring more to the table.

Needless to say, its camera is one of the most remarkable offerings to users. But lately, we have seen a number of issues with it too.

For instance, iPhone 14 Pro camera was showing overprocessed or overexposed photos for some users. We even saw how iPhone 13 series camera viewfinder would flicker when moving near or far from subjects.

iPhone Camera ‘Unknown part’ error

Some iPhone owners (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) are reporting an issue where the camera is displaying an error message that reads ‘Unknown part’. Such an issue typically occurs when a device is repaired using unauthorized 3rd-party parts.

But in this case, even those with brand-new iPhones (who have never gotten their phones repaired) are receiving this error code. Reports suggest that iOS 16, 16.1, 16.2, and 16.3 updates appear to be the cause of the problem.

It is incredibly frustrating and it has been troubling users for the last 2-3 months (1,2,3,4). This is preventing them from using the camera as it is just not getting recognized.

Fortunately, some users have received device replacements (1,2) or got the whole camera module exchanged from Apple. This makes for a compelling case that this could be a hardware issue.

So far, Apple hasn’t commented on the issue where the camera is not working for some users. There are also no workarounds that can help resolve this issue temporarily.

We hope that the team finds out the root cause of the problem and comes up with a permanent fix.

We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article accordingly.
