iOS has a bothersome issue wherein bottom row (dock) icons keep rearranging themselves on iPhone. And although reports of the issue have been doing rounds for years now, not even iOS 14 has addressed it.

Hence, the complaints have only continued and some of them are given below.

Updated to IOS 14 and ever since then the bottom 4 icons (dock?) keep rearranging themselves in reverse order. I put them back to how I have always had them, then not long after they’ve reversed order again. This happens every other day.

While reports have originated from various iPhone models, quite oddly, the issue does seem limited to older ones like the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and the iPhone 8, including their Plus versions of course.

Moreover, the reason for this behavior is unknown. Is it a ‘feature’ of sorts? High unlikely. It is actually just a software bug that Apple is either too lazy to fix or is simply unaware of.

To make them aware of it, you can try giving feedback through this link.

What is known about the bug though is the fact that it occurs when the screen is rotated to landscape mode and then back to portrait. This doesn’t hold true every time, however.

The worse part is that the issue has dragged itself across the years and through several iOS updates.

Updated for the first time last night to 13.1.2. Now, the bottom 4 icons (dock?) keep rearranging themselves in reverse order. I put them back to how I have always had them, then not long after they’ve reversed order again.

Workarounds for the bottom row icons rearranging issue on iPhone

Quite ironically, it appears that the very thing that causes the issue is also the only known fix as of now.

Simply rotate your phone to landscape and then back again. Not the perfect solution, we admit. But still far more convenient than manually reordering the entire dock.

Hopefully, Apple will pull their socks up and address the matter soon. For now, be sure to check out our dedicated iOS 14 bug tracker for further coverage on issues like these along with their workarounds, if any.
