Hyundai Motor Corporation has undoubtedly led the way in the development of the auto industry in Korea and is still expanding internationally.
It has also established itself as a pioneer in the field of autonomous driving and is stocked with top-notch eco-friendly technologies and a variety of features.
One of the features is the ‘Check hybrid system’ that is displayed on the screen of the car when there is a problem with the hybrid system. One is usually expected to refrain from driving whenever this message pops up.
Hyundai ‘Check hybrid system’ warning causing safety concerns
However, some Hyundai drivers (1,2,3,4,5) are concerned about the ‘Check hybrid system’ warning pop-ups which are causing major safety concerns among them.
So this has now happened 5 times since sept when I noticed it happening for the first time. I’ll be driving down the road and the battery will drain to 0%, I’ll lose all power to the wheels then the car will die.
I’ll have to keep the car off for about 15 mins, turn on and let it idle there charging the battery again to a certain level. The only error given is “check hybrid system and pull over” which goes away after letting the car sit for a min.

This is a major problem since it abruptly cuts power and prevents vehicles from accelerating, which could cause a terrifying accident. Sonata, Elantra, and Tucson are just a few of the models that seem to be affected by this.
But some accounts claim that it’s not necessarily alarming because even a malfunctioning fuel injector can cause the signal to appear. Hence, restarting your car can help eliminate the error if you believe everything is under control.
Granted, the error notice could appear for a number of reasons. But if it keeps showing up for no apparent reason, you can always ask for a replacement from the concerned dealer.
Lemon Law
If the said dealer is unwilling to replace your vehicle, the Lemon Law may then be implemented after 30 days.
This law will safeguard your interests and guarantee that you don’t end up with a car that is flawed. One person even described their success using the Lemon Law to resolve the issue.
You can check the screenshot of their testimony attached below for reference:
We do hope that Hyundai takes users’ reports into consideration and does the needful. Until then, people who are experiencing this issue can make sure that they are driving carefully.
We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article accordingly.
