Hulu, a company owned by The Walt Disney Company, is an American subscription on-demand video platform.
The service is one of Disney’s star performers and has generated revenues even more than the highly-subscribed sister platform, Disney+.
With growing competitors in the online streaming industry and with its limited presence in just the US, Hulu has to mend its ways if it wishes to continue being in the top lineup.
It starts from providing a seamless experience to the subscribers, which seems a little compromised at this moment.
Hulu users are reporting that they’re unable to cast Hulu to Chromecast and are stuck on the “Ready to cast” screen.
I have a 1st gen chromecast and a few days ago hulu just stopped working. It will connect just fine. The tv says “Ready to Cast” but as soon as I try to play anything the now playing screen just closes. I tried using my android tablet, android phone, and from my google chrome on my pc.

I factory reset my Chromecast and uninstalled the Hulu app and reinstalled it. All other apps, from what I can tell, have no issue with my Chromecast. I’ve tried my android, iPad, and MacBook Pro (Chrome browser) but no luck!!

The “Ready to cast” issue affects a large user base and takes both mobile app and web apps of Hulu under its radar. Basic troubleshooting steps including re-installing the apps don’t help either.
Events like these affect the company terribly and it will only be a matter of time until its own sister company Disney+ moves ahead of it.
But the positive bit is that Hulu is already aware of the ongoing issue and is working on a fix. Here’s what the Twitter support of Hulu said.
Sorry for the continued upset! As we previously touched on, we’re aware of similar reports impacting some Chromecast users. The good news is we’re working towards a fix. We appreciate your continued patience in the meantime!
Since the issue affects a good chunk of subscribers, the fix would already be in the works on priority.
In the meantime, streaming content without having it projected to Chromecast is the only way to enjoy the content.
We will post as soon as there’s an update or a possible workaround comes to light.
