New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on June 21, 2021) follows:
Streaming services have been on the rise in the last decade with people preferring this medium of entertainment over cable TV, which is slowly dying.
Hulu is one of the biggest streaming services in the world at the moment offering a wide variety of content. Hulu’s service has been pretty great as the Hulu app provides a good experience on a number of different platforms.
But recently Apple TV device users are facing trouble streaming some shows on the Hulu app. Users are getting a ‘This video can’t be played’ error as the HDMI cable or connection doesn’t support HDCP.
Users are only facing this issue with shows from FX networks, while other content on the Hulu app is streaming without any issue.
So when is @Apple / @hulu @FXNetworks going to fix the stupid HDCP error when trying to play FX shows on the Hulu app on Apple TV?

@FXNetworks whoever encodes your video or handles the HDCP work for your AppleTV app really messed up your last update. 6 month old TV and cable, AppleTV 4K & after the update nothing from the year 2020 plays properly on Hulu. I’m just finding things for Plex to make it work now.

Hulu Support has replied that they are aware of the issue and their team is investigating it.
Earlier this month Roku users faced the same HDCP support issue with the Hulu app, we covered that here. Unlike the Hulu HDCP issue, there are even some workarounds in the article, so be sure to try them if affected.
We are hopeful that Hulu will soon fix the issue on Apple TV and on other streaming devices too. In the meantime, we will keep following the issue and keep you updated.
