Huawei is one of the popular mainstream brands that offer a comprehensive portfolio of smartwatches and wearables. The Chinese tech-giant is now ready with some new updates for their gizmos.
Notably, the updates are being pushed for the Huawei Watch GT 2 in China and Honor Band 5 in India. By the looks of it, the global rollout should begin soon. Let us take a look at the updates one by one:
Huawei Watch GT 2
Talking about the update announced for the second generation Huawei Watch GT, it arrives with the firmware version 1.0.3.16 and reportedly weighs in around 47 MB in size.
The global variant of the smartwatch got NFC support via a software update back in November. Another OTA brought plenty of GPS and Bluetooth related improvements about a month ago.
Talking about this new update, it now enables a breathing monitoring function that helps users with sleep apnea. In layman’s term, this is a disorder that causes trouble in sleep by repetitve pauses in breathing.
Below are the changes this new update is adding to the Huawei Watch GT 2 (translated from Chinese):
[New and optimized]
1) Added support for sleep apnea research (supporting sports health app 10.0.2.511 and heart health research app 2.0.0).
2) Add style to standby dial.
3) Some dials have the ability to customize.
4) Optimize GPS positioning speed.
5) Optimized heart rate does not show problems.
6) Optimize Bluetooth headset compatibility.
Honor Band 5
Now the update for the Honor Band 5 is arriving with version number 1.1.0.122 and weighs in a mere 90.67 KB. The update brings in some bug fixes for the devices.
The device did receive an optimization update (1.1.0.120) at the beginning of this month. Seems to be a small incremental patch over that build, below is the official changelog along with the screenshot of the update prompt shared by one of the users:

The update is being pushed via OTA in batches and will take some time in hitting all the units. However, you can manually check for the update by taking a look at the Huawei Health app.
