The Huawei Mate 20 Pro picked up the update to EMUI 10.1 in Canada early this month. Prior to this, the device was running on the Android 10-based EMUI 10 skin which released back in November last year.

Much like any other system update for Android phones, the update did not go live for the device in all regions at the same time. Therefore, the EMUI 10.1 skin is yet to roll out for the Mate 20 Pro in several countries. Although, it now appears that Indian Mate 20 Pro users can rejoice.

This is because the company’s new skin over Android is beginning to roll out for the device in India. According to Huawei Central, the update is rolling out with software version 10.1.0.291, up from the previous version 10.0.0.234.

As expected, the EMUI 10.1 skin brings a bunch of new features including a colorful Always-on Display, multi-window multitasking, new fingerprint animations, and more. Therefore, Huawei Mate 20 Pro users have a lot to look forward to with the new update.

The OTA file size for the update is 4.80GB so make sure to connect to a WiFi network if you don’t want to use up your precious mobile data while downloading EMUI 10.1. Like most airborne updates, this too is rolling out in batches. So it may take a few hours or even days before it arrives on your unit.

That being said, Huawei is also set to announce its in-house OS called HarmonyOS in September. Allegedly, the EMUI 11 skin will be based on this new platform. Speaking of which, we’ve curated a list of devices that may receive the update to EMUI 11 which you can check out here.
