The Honor 9 Lite released back in 2017 and came with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed. Since its release, the device has only picked up one major OS update and that is the update to Android Pie. At present, it is running on Android Pie alongside EMUI 9.1.
Honor doesn’t really have a good history when it comes to providing updates. The company only released 1 major OS update for its affordable devices. Therefore, there was only little hope that the company will release the Android 10 update alongside EMUI 10 for the device.
Back in April, we had reported that the Honor 9 Lite will get VoWiFi which, fortunately, it did. Along with that, it made us believe that Honor may push the EMUI 10 update for the device. But the company did not divulge any details regarding the update, until now.
According to the official EMUI/Magic UI security bulletin shared by Huawei, it appears that the Honor 9 Lite will no longer get any software updates. Prior to this, the Honor 9 Lite was receiving monthly security updates until September last year.
The device was then shifted to the quarterly updates list. And in the latest security bulletin, it has been scrapped altogether. Other devices such as the Honor 9X Lite, Honor 9A, Honor 9C, and Honor 9S will get quarterly security updates. But the Honor 9 Lite will no longer get any software updates, not even security patches.
With this, the chances for the Honor 9 Lite to be upgraded to Android 10 have vanished. That being said, you can keep an eye out on our Android 10 update tracker for Honor devices to know when it arrives on all eligible phones.
